Events

UCR-CoP events provide an opportunity for members to get together to exchange knowledge, share good practices and learn together about urban climate change resilience. UCR-CoP events are free and open to everyone that is interested in the topic of urban climate resilience.

The next UCR-CoP Event will be held in late 2016. Once the event has been confirmed, details will be posted on this page and emailed to all members.

Sharing event in Hanoi: Integrating Resilience Thinking into Urban Development
31 August 2018

The workshop focused on the topic of integrating resilience thinking into urban development, specifically aiming to share and discuss the challenges in applying resilience thinking in urban development in general, and through the specific experiences and lessons related to green infrastructure development in Can Tho City under the 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) program. It was also an opportunity for members to share and discuss the experience and results of their resilience projects, as well as their upcoming plans.

Sharing event in Hanoi: Update Efforts and Share Experiences on Building Urban Resilience in Viet Nam
16 May 2017

At this periodic sharing event, UCR-CoP members will have an oppoturnity to learn about the action plan for urban resilience in Vietnam, the roadmap to establish practical urban resilience indicators for Vietnam, and get involved in the policy discussion for urban resilience in the peri-urban areas. UCR-CoP members will also update one another about their urban resilience related activities and projects.

Sharing event in Hanoi: Update Efforts and Share Experiences on Building Urban Resilience in Viet Nam

Inputs for Vietnam City Resilience Index Workshop – Hanoi
17 June 2016

The event is to follow up the December 2015 CRI workshop that introduced and discussed the Vietnam City Resilience Index (VN-CRI) regarding methodology and the set of the proposed indicators. The VN CRI has been tested in 5 cities. This workshop aims to share what have been drawn and achieved from the pilot period and to get further inputs for the CRI indicators to make it better fit into real local situations.

CBDRM sharing event – Hanoi
18 March 2016

With the theme Urban Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) in Vietnam, the upcoming UCR-CoP event will introduce two examples of successful community engagements in urban disaster risk reduction: Co-management of Riverbank Erosion Control in Can Tho, and Early Warning System in Quy Nhon. The event is also an opportunity for members to discuss and share their experiences in CBDRM as well as Urban Climate Resilience.

December 2015

December sharing event – Hanoi
16 December 2015

The event aims to introduce and discuss the Vietnam City Resilience Index (VN-CRI) regarding methodology and framework, and a quick glance at the set of the proposed indicators. These methodology, framework and indicators will be tested in 5 cities prior to a rolling out to 30 cities in Vietnam in the first half of 2016. Besides, there will be a presentation of a possible application of GIS and Remote Sensing in developing the indicators.

November sharing event – Hanoi
11 November 2015

Members of the UCR-CoP had an opportunity to hear and discuss project results, experiences related to changing flood risks in Peri-Urban areas as well as urban planning and development in some cities of Vietnam, and to participate in the Soft Launch of The Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network (ACCCRN) Regional Network in Vietnam.

Annual Planning event – Hanoi

The annual planning meeting was an opportunity for core members of UCR-CoP to reflect on the achievements and challenges of UCR-CoP in 2014, share their upcoming work for the year, and determine priority themes and plans for UCR-CoP in 2015. Two UCR-CoP working groups were established in this meeting: the urban development system group, and the urban planning group.

Annual Planning Event – Hanoi

The annual planning meeting was the first major UCR-CoP event of 2014. The meeting was an opportunity for all UCR-CoP participants to reflect on activities in 2013, share their upcoming work for the year, improve their understanding of each others’ work, and identify concrete plans and new ideas for UCR-CoP collaboration and expansion in 2014.
