The Regional Summit under the framework of the “100 resilient cities” program took place in Singapore between 12 and 15 July 2016. The summit received more than 50 delegates from 11 Asian-Pacific cities, 100RC Management Board and Platform Partners from Europe, Asia and America.

At the summit, delegates from member cities shared their processes in building resilience against shocks and stresses. Challenges facing these cities were also mentioned, and they are both inner issues of each certain city and common issues to the world such as climate change, water shortage, urban planning without integration…

This is a great chance for representatives of member cities to meet potential partners in order to find solutions and resources to overcome obstacles in designing and implementing their Resilience Strategy. Participants learned existing models and lessons from Singapore in building resilience regarding green urban planning, domestic water supply… At the summit, Da Nang delegation met and discussed the draft of the city’s Resilience Strategy and how to leverage international funding and resources in order to implement the Strategy, with high-level managers of 100RC. This is a huge opportunity for the Strategy team of Da Nang to complete the Resilience Strategy with specific inovatives and actions to submit it to Da Nang People’s Committee for announcement in the late August or the early September of 2016.
